Environmental Aide

Description

This program was developed by the Canadian
Healthcare Housekeepers’ Association. A division of
ISSA, formerly the Ontario Healthcare
Housekeepers’ Association, to address the increased
need to provide education for Frontline Workers in
Healthcare Facilities.

The course addresses all aspects of the healthcare
cleaning profession, in particular, the importance of
proper techniques and practices to reduce the risk
of infection. The course includes recommendations
by the Provincial Infection Control Advisory
Committee (PIDAC) pertaining to the Best Practice
Cleaning Document for Environmental Cleaning.
The Course addresses all aspects of the Healthcare
cleaning profession. Upon completion, students will
have a clear understanding of the importance of
their role in the Healthcare cleaning environment.

• Basic Housekeeping
• Basic Laundry Washroom Care
• Health & Safety & WHIMIS Floor Care
• Infection Control Professionalism

The criteria for completion of the Environmental
Frontline Program is based a final exam. A certificate
of completion is issued to participants who
successfully complete all required components of
the program and score 80% on the mentored
version.

Students can successfully progress through the
program and complete it within the allotted time
frame, concluding in June.

It is recommended you allocate a minimum of
4-5 hours of study per week.
Please allow mentors a two week turnaround to
grade your assignments, but you may still
proceed to the next module.

Requirements/Eligibility

• Minimum 18 years of age at time of
registration
• Currently unemployed or under employed
• Seeking full-time work in the Health Care
field upon completion of the program
• Resident of Ontario and legally entitled to
work in Canada
