Construction Essentials (Pembroke)
Description
The Construction Essentials program will provide job seekers with the skills needed to gain entry-level employment in residential and commercial construction. Participants will receive hands-on essential skills training including: basic measurements; site safety and specialized training (including Working at Heights); tools and material usage; and applied carpentry skills and techniques ranging from framing to interior and exterior finishing.
NOTE: This course is offered by Algonquin College and held at a location used for the carpentry program: 100 Crandall Street, Pembroke, ON.
Requirements/Eligibility
- 18 years of age or older (17 with a high school diploma)
- Currently unemployed or underemployed and not in education or returning in the spring
- A Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident
- Interested in a career in the Construction Industry
