Perioperative Nurse

Description

This nursing specialty for RNs gives you the skills to become a part of the surgical team in scrub or circulating roles, working with surgeons and anesthesiologists. You will also receive an introduction to interventional radiology techniques and anaesthesia best practice. The program includes as evidenced based theory, extensive lab practice in Fleming’s the state-of-the art simulation and nursing labs as well as Peterborough Regional Health Centre’s Operating Rooms and an unpaid clinical field experience. This Ontario College Graduate Certificate has been designed in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario, and in alignment with the guidelines and Standards of Practice of the Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC). There is no cost to participants.

Requirements/Eligibility

• BScN Degree, Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• 18 years of age or older
• Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident Residents of Ontario
